Family Involvement PDF Print E-mail

Family involvement is a key component of the educational program at New Frontiers Academy. Families are encouraged to participate in their teen’s learning process through the following activities:

Family Therapy (every two weeks) - where a licensed clinician will facilitate family sessions that include the teen and family members, with a focus on addressing the teen’s life challenges in the context of the family system.

Family Camps (once a quarter) - where family members will attend a “retreat” with other NFA families, engaging in support sessions, seminars, and educational groups aimed at gaining practical skills for dealing with their teen’s life challenges. Special time between families and their teen’s will be a part of the camps.

Family Adventure Weekends (once per academic year) - where the approaching end of the school year is celebrated through an adventure weekend that engages parents/guardians in some of the outdoor, experiential activities their teen has mastered at New Frontiers Academy throughout the year.

In addition to these therapeutic components, families are encouraged to keep track of their teen’s progress through online resources available through the New Frontiers Academy website. Families are an integral part of the process at NFA and are encouraged to be actively involved in their teen’s educational process. We maintain a strong focus on the family system and reintegration of the teen into the family unit.
